Matt Conley spent his formative years in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. While in high school, Matt found a love for competitive debate which sparked his initial interest in becoming an attorney. He went on to compete in several national debate tournaments.
After graduating high school, he enrolled at the University of Kansas. Matt was highly active in student government and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science with Academic Honors. He then went on to work for a Member of Congress in the United States House of Representatives.
Following his time in Washington, D.C., Matt enrolled at the Washburn University School of Law. He took a particular interest in litigation and participated in multiple mock trial competitions. He also obtained a student law practice permit and represented indigent defendants in criminal court through the Washburn Law Clinic. He graduated with Dean’s Honors.
After passing the Kansas Bar exam, Matt served as an assistant district attorney for the Shawnee County District Attorney’s office. He prosecuted child in need of care, juvenile, and criminal cases. He then transitioned to private practice, representing individual clients in criminal, civil, and family matters.
Pursuing a lifelong dream, Matt passed the California Bar exam, moved to California, and began practicing in Santa Barbara. Since moving to California, he has focused his practice on personal injury matters and has worked for both plaintiff and defense focused firms. His experience working on “both sides” gives him a unique perspective when assessing and litigating a case.
Matt is passionate about his work and intensely cares about his clients. Matt believes in free-flowing communication to ensure all questions and concerns are addressed quickly and professionally. He knows how stressful it can be to suffer an injury and then go through the difficult process of recovery, both physically and financially. He sees it as his duty to give his clients peace of mind knowing their cases are being handled with determination and skill.
In his free time, Matt enjoys travel, attending concerts, hiking, camping, fishing and spending time with his wonderful wife, Kathy.
